When you move into a new business location and there's an illuminated sign at that location you are going to need to change the sign faces to new ones with your business name. This is easily accomplished and much, much less expensive than buying a new sign. Faces come in several types. Flat, pan face and embossed pan face. They can be simple and  professional in one or two color or full-color with a digital print A flat face is just what it sounds like. The polycarbonate sign face is flat and slides into the sign cabinet held in place by "retainers" (a frame of the same material and color as the sign cabinet). Flat faces look fine and are the most cost effective of the three types. The only issue that arrises is that if the flat face is made from too thin a material (trying to save a couple of bucks) it can often bow in and not look so nice and flat. You may have seen signs like this. It makes the sign look cheap. Which it is even though only a "couple of bucks" were saved. Much better to go the extra small amount for the thicker material so your flat face looks flat. A pan face is one in which the actual flat surface of the sign protrudes out from the cabinet 2" to 3". It's a very nice look and more sturdy than a flat face of any thickness. The "pan" effect makes it look more finished. Pan faces are very popular and you see them everywhere, all around town, in most illuminated signs. This type of pan face can often be "washed" of the old lettering (some can't due to age or embossing) and new lettering can be added so that you don't have to buy a new face. This can be of great savings if your pan face qualifies for a wash. Most do. Then there is the pan face with embossed lettering/logo. This is a pan face in which the lettering is raised on the surface about 1/2". It doesn't seem like much but the effect is obvious. It gives the lettering a 3 dimensional look and a bit of a natural shadow and highlight that really adds to the appeal of the sign and the design.
